OurAugust 11Chicago Roundtable program will feature a presentation by Bob Stein, President & CEO of the American Society on Aging. This follows an introduction to the reframing/ageism work Bob presented at our August 2016 Chicago Roundtable program. This two year project working with the Frameworks Institute in Washington, DC, ASA and seven other aging organizations [*] collaborating on this critical work, reaffirmed that as Americans live longer and healthier lives, it's essential that society adjust both its attitude toward aging and its systems that support and shape wellbeing in later life. Understanding this, ASA partnered with seven of its peer organizations, nine forward-thinking funders [**], and the FrameWorks Institute [***] to figure out how to reframe aging.

The findings and recommendations are now available to the field in a new toolkit, Gaining Momentum, and Bob will be sharing the results and how to start working with Gaining Momentum Toolkit, which is available without cost to the field, thanks to the financial support of our nine funders*. You can find it here:http://bit.ly/aging_toolkit

In our youth-obsessed culture, aging is primarily understood as a personal fate to avoid, not a social issue that demands a public response. The Toolkit is designed to help advocates like you work to change the conversation on aging, to trigger public thinking to spark dialogue, to shift perceptions, and to build support for necessary policy changes.
