Logan Center Family Saturdays
Visions of Peace: Past, Present, and Future
Sat,Jan 6/ 2–4:30pm / Free

Peace is a challenging concept, and its meaning is informed by the everyday, lived experiences of individuals. This Family Saturday is dedicated to remembering peaceful local and global heroes while re-imagining peace locally-in our homes and communities-and around the world. The workshops will explore multiple dimensions of peace through symbol creation, movement, mind-body practices, and film screenings.

Southside Projections
3-4:30pm
South Side Projections has gathered several classic and soon-to-be classic animated films about overcoming shyness, fear, and greed in order to create a better world. Yo! Yes?, an adaptation of Chris Raschka's 1993 book, is the story of two kids on a basketball court who decide to take a chance on friendship. In Island of the Skog, an adaptation of Stephen Kellog's 1973 book, a family of city mice flee across the sea to find a peaceful place to live, only to discover that their new home is also the home of a mysterious, possibly dangerous creature. The Bolivian film Abuela Grillo (Grandma Grasshopper) tells of a woman who summons rain when she sings, which angers companies that want to make people pay for water.

Best for ages 6 and up

Registration is recommended. All workshops are first come, first served.
