The second event will be a free ice sculpture carving demonstration by “Nadeau Ice Sculptures” in Harper Court from 10 a.m. to noon. Nadeau is known for their work for renown Chicago institutions including the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks and Lincoln Park “Zoolights.”

There will also be a “Lunch with Santa” held at Potbelly Sandwich Shop, 5428 S. Lake Park Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be a free meet and greet opportunity to take photos, with food available for purchase.

Costumed characters such as Elsa, from Walt Disney movie “Frozen,” Anna, Belle, and a host of other characters will greet the kids and sign autographs at local stores in the Hyde Park area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The soon-to-open Vanille Patisserie Bakery, 5229 S. Harper Court, will host a cookie decorating station from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The activity is free, and no reservations are required.

The kickoff event will feature a “Breakfast with Santa” at Einstein Bros. Bagels, 5225 S. Harper Court, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The event will be a free meet and greet opportunity to take photos, with food available for purchase.

Hyde Park School of Dance will present a free dance preview performance of “The Nutcracker” at the Connect Gallery, 1520 E. Harper Court, from noon to 1 p.m.

Kenwood Academy High School Singers leading caroling activities starting at Harper Court from noon to 1 p.m.,
