| | Dear Friends,
At Chicago Hyde Park Village we believe an age-friendly community is simply a friendly community. Thanks to your generosity, CHPV continues to foster a caring, supportive environment for vibrant, healthy aging. Nearly half of our revenue comes from individual donors like you, ensuring that older adults in our community can live healthfully and happily.
As a volunteer-driven organization, we call CHPV a community of “neighbors helping neighbors.” In the last year, your contributions helped 87 volunteers provide 3,040 hours of service (a 12% increase from the year prior), including:
- 208 rides to medical appointments and events
- 760 visits to 23 socially isolated older adults
- 12 monthly Memory Café events serving 177 attendees including people living with Alzheimer’s and care partners
- 26 volunteers served Thanksgiving Day meals to over 70 older adults either delivered to their doors or at our communal gathering
We’re excited to announce a $25,000 CHALLENGE GRANT from the Elizabeth Louise Smith Fund, which will increase the impact of your donation through the end of the year. Your generous gift today will help us meet this challenge and expand our services, enriching the lives of older adults, families, and our entire community.
Please help CHPV close our 10th anniversary year strong by donating today. With your support, you’re making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
With my sincerest thanks,
Lucas Livingston, Executive Director

Throughout the year and especially in November we focus on the powerful contributions of Native Peoples in the United States. There are many ways to celebrate and honor Native Americans and the rich culture of the many indigenous tribes: educate ourselves about the histories of the many contributions of Native Americans, attend local events to support Indigenous Cultures, support Native owned businesses and artisans, visit museums, heritage centers, and historical sites, and commit to supporting the policies that impact equitable change in local and national organizations.
While we celebrate Native Americans' contributions to culture, art, education, public service, science, humanities, medicine, ecology, architecture, and many other areas of society, it is important to recognize the painful history inflicted upon the Native Peoples of America, as President Joe Biden affirms in his 2024 Proclamation on National Native American Heritage Month: "our Nation’s failed policies of the past subjected generations of Native peoples to cruelty, violence, and intimidation. The forced removal of Native peoples from their homes and ancestral homelands; attempts to assimilate entire generations; and stripping of Indigenous peoples of their identities, cultures, and traditions are some of the darkest chapters of our Nation’s history."
