Giving Tuesday
 
This Tuesday is GivingTuesday, a global movement unleashing the power of people to radically transform our communities through generosity. You can demonstrate your power in a variety of ways on GivingTuesday — help a neighbor, advocate for an issue, share a skill, or give to a cause. Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity makes a change.

More and more older South Siders rely on the services, support, and socialization of Chicago Hyde Park Village to age healthfully in community. Nearly half of CHPV’s revenue depends on individual gifts like yours. With your help, CHPV can grow its ability to support the needs of our aging population.
 
Please give generously to help us continue to enrich the lives of older adults, families, and the community. With your support, you’re making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Bring a gently loved holiday decoration to find a new home and take home a new (to you) decoration gifted by others.

"Cookie" Share
Bring your favorite homemade or store-bought holiday treats (not just cookies) to share with others. Enjoy in person and take home an assortment to savor (bring your own container). Join us for a round of holiday songs from Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and the Season of Winter led by Andy Teitelman.

Fraud & Scams Targeting Older Adults with Lynne Perryman

Financial fraud targeting older adults has become so prevalent that it has been called the crime of the 21st century. Older adults are thought to have a significant amount of money sitting in their accounts, but it is not just wealthy older adults who are targeted. Low-income older adults are also at risk of financial abuse. Financial scams often go unreported or can be difficult to prosecute, so they are considered a low-risk crime. However, they are devastating to many older adults and can leave them in a very vulnerable position with no way to recoup their losses.

Lynne Perryman, Vice President and Control Manager at JPMorgan Chase, joins us to discuss this alarming topic and answers your burning questions. Learn how to recognize a financial scam or fraud, what to do and how to respond if you are targeted, and when and how to report scam or fraud.
